Summary:

Mapleton, Utah, has five public schools serving grades PK through 9: three elementary schools and two middle schools, all part of Nebo District; the city has no high school or alternative school listed. The schools enroll about 4,424 students, and their academic results are generally stronger than Utah averages, although attendance is a significant concern. The elementary schools serve PK–6, while Maple Grove Middle serves grades 6–8 and Mapleton Junior High serves grades 7–9, creating some overlap in middle-grade options.

Maple Ridge School is the clear academic leader, ranking in the 95th percentile statewide with a five-star rating and the city’s highest reported proficiency average. It exceeded Utah results in all eight reported subject-grade areas, including especially strong mathematics and science scores. Hobble Creek School is another strong elementary option, ranking in the 75th percentile and standing out for mathematics and science; it also has the city’s lowest chronic absenteeism rate. Mapleton School posted solid mathematics and science results, exceeding the state in seven of eight reported areas, but its ranking fell notably from the previous year and merits monitoring.

Among the middle schools, Maple Grove Middle currently ranks higher, at the 70th percentile, and performed above Utah in five of six reported areas, particularly sixth-grade science. Its main drawback is the city’s highest chronic absenteeism rate, 31.6%. Mapleton Junior High ranks at the 67th percentile and has shown encouraging year-over-year gains in eighth-grade mathematics and science, though its overall results are more mixed. Across Mapleton, elementary mathematics and science are consistent strengths, while ELA is less even. Four of the five schools have absenteeism above the state rate, making attendance support one of the most important area-wide priorities.
