Summary

Brookhollow Elementary is a mid-sized PK-5 school in the Pflugerville Independent School District (Isd), serving 387 students in a diverse neighborhood where about half of the students qualify for free or reduced lunch, and it offers a favorable student-teacher ratio of 12.8:1.

Brookhollow presents a unique academic profile that sets it apart from nearby schools. While its Reading proficiency rates (42-55%) are close to district and state averages, its Math proficiency rates (29-39%) are significantly lower, creating a wider gap than at most neighboring schools. This is especially notable when compared to high-performing neighbors like Murchison Elementary (92nd percentile) and Highland Park Elementary (87th percentile), which excel in both subjects. However, Brookhollow has a consistent strength in 5th Grade Science, historically outperforming the state and district in this subject. The school also shows a dramatic disparity in how it serves different student groups, with White students performing exceptionally well (72nd percentile) while other groups struggle significantly. This achievement gap is more pronounced than in many surrounding schools.

Several trends are worth noting for parents. The school's overall performance has been inconsistent, dropping to the 35th percentile in the most recent data after a recent peak of the 62nd percentile. There is a concerning downward trajectory for Hispanic students and students from low socio-economic backgrounds, with rankings falling sharply over the past two years. Additionally, the Gifted and Talented program has shown volatile performance, dropping from the 90th percentile to the 43rd percentile. Interestingly, Brookhollow shares a common weakness in Math with its closest neighbor, Timmerman Elementary (22nd percentile), suggesting a potential district-wide challenge in elementary math instruction for this area of Pflugerville.

Open Quote Brookhollow has exceeded our expectations. The teachers have all been both kind and passionate about teaching. Our kids are excelling here. The GT program is outstanding. The PTA plans so many fun events and the kids really seem to enjoy this school. The pickup line moves quickly, as this is a small school. Overall, we are very happy with Brookhollow. Close Quote
