Summary

Timmerman Elementary is a PK-5 school in the Pflugerville Independent School District (Isd) serving 426 students, and it currently ranks in the 22nd percentile statewide, placing it in the bottom quarter of Texas elementary schools after a decade of decline from a peak in the 60th percentile during the 2016-2017 school year.

This school faces significant academic challenges, particularly in math and science. In the 2024-2025 school year, only 20% of 4th graders were proficient in math, compared to the district average of 44.32%, and just 8.82% of 5th graders were proficient in science, versus the state average of 29.57%. These scores are the lowest among nearby Pflugerville ISD schools like Caldwell Elementary (50th percentile) and Wieland Elementary (41st percentile). Even Brookhollow Elementary, just 0.85 miles away, ranks higher at the 35th percentile. The contrast is stark with Basis Pflugerville Pri, a charter school 1.45 miles away that ranks in the 95th percentile and achieves 70-85% proficiency across subjects. While 67.84% of Timmerman students qualify for free or reduced lunch, nearby Ruth Barron Elementary has a higher rate of 89.02% yet ranks higher (33rd percentile), suggesting poverty alone doesn't explain the performance gap.

Despite these struggles, there are bright spots. The school's Gifted and Talented program ranks in the 70th percentile statewide, indicating effective instruction for high-achieving students. However, a troubling pattern shows the school ranks in the 27th percentile for female students but only the 6th percentile for male students, suggesting a need for targeted strategies for boys. With a favorable student-teacher ratio of 13:1 and per-student spending of $11,942 (slightly above the district average), resource allocation isn't the primary issue. The persistent low performance in STEM subjects over multiple years points to systemic curriculum and instruction challenges that require immediate attention.

Open Quote Quite possibly the worst run school I have ever witnessed. The administration has no control over the students. My son is always worried about his safety and his sisters safety. They have a hallway that is always shut down because kids are going off and ripping everything down. We see this as parents, what do the kids see as students?? I will be pulling my children the second that I can. I hope nobody has to endure the level of incompetence that admin has showed our family and friends. Close Quote
