Summary

Danny Jones Middle in Mansfield, TX, serves 812 students in grades 7 and 8 and is a high-performing school within the highly-rated Mansfield Independent School District (Isd), consistently ranking among the top 10% of middle schools in Texas. This school stands out for its exceptional academic performance, particularly in Algebra I, where 94.64% of students scored proficient—nearly double the state average of 54.03% and significantly higher than the district average of 75.41%. Danny Jones also excels in 8th Grade Social Studies, with 56.63% of students proficient, outperforming the district by 45% and the state by 79%. These results place it on par with top nearby schools like Brooks Wester Middle and Charlene McKinzey Middle, while far exceeding lower-performing peers such as Rogene Worley Middle and James Coble Middle.

What makes Danny Jones particularly impressive is its effectiveness across diverse student groups. The school ranks in the 95th percentile for Hispanic students, 90th percentile for African American students, and 94th percentile for English Language Learners, demonstrating a strong commitment to closing achievement gaps. It also supports students from low socioeconomic backgrounds, ranking in the 89th percentile for this group. This equity in outcomes is a testament to the school's leadership and instructional practices, especially when compared to Rogene Worley Middle, which serves the same grades within the same district but lags significantly in key metrics like 7th Grade Reading (72.99% vs. 53.11%) and 8th Grade Social Studies (56.63% vs. 29.77%).

Interestingly, Danny Jones benefits from a strong feeder school pipeline, with Mary Lillard I S (grades 5-6) providing exceptionally well-prepared students, while the school also effectively supports students from Mary Orr Intermediate, which has below-average performance. However, a notable anomaly is a drop in the Gifted and Talented subgroup ranking from the 99th percentile in 2024-2025 to the 79th percentile in 2025-2026, which may warrant further investigation. Overall, Danny Jones Middle is a stable, high-achieving school that delivers outstanding results for all students.

Open Quote It's an incredibly unsafe environment, and I feel that just the two counselors in themselves are ineffective. There's a high risk of getting beat up by a larger student, and I'm tense every day that I walk throughout the halls. The suicidal thoughts of students occur often, not to mention how out of control they are. I would NOT recommend this school. Close Quote
