Danny Jones Middle

Summary:

Danny Jones Middle is a public middle school located in Mansfield, Texas, serving grades 7-8 with a total enrollment of 853 students. The school is part of the Mansfield Independent School District (ISD), which is ranked 259 out of 968 school districts in Texas and is rated 4 stars out of 5 by SchoolDigger.

Danny Jones Middle consistently performs above the district and state averages in STAAR assessments, with significantly higher proficiency rates in subjects like Reading, Mathematics, and Algebra I. The school's diverse student population, with a higher percentage of African American and Asian students compared to the district and state, is a notable strength. Danny Jones Middle also maintains very low dropout rates and has high rankings for various student subgroups, including African American, Hispanic, and Low Socioeconomic Status students. However, the school's lower rankings for Special Education and At-Risk student subgroups in recent years suggest a need to closely examine the support and interventions provided to these student populations.

When compared to nearby schools within the Mansfield ISD, Danny Jones Middle consistently outperforms the nearby intermediate schools in STAAR assessment proficiency rates, particularly in the higher grade levels. The school also has a more diverse student population compared to some of the surrounding schools. While the spending per student at Danny Jones Middle is generally in line with the nearby schools, the school's relatively more advantaged student population compared to some of the surrounding schools, such as Ousley J.H. in the Arlington ISD, is an interesting finding.

As you review the school rankings data, please be aware that some of the information from certain demographics is missing. The reason for this omission is that the data has been redacted from the source data itself due to low population samples in these specific demographic groups.

Redacting data from low population samples is a necessary step to ensure the reliability and accuracy of the results, as small sample sizes may not be representative of the broader population. Additionally, this measure helps protect the privacy of individuals belonging to these demographic groups.

Open Quote It's an incredibly unsafe environment, and I feel that just the two counselors in themselves are ineffective. There's a high risk of getting beat up by a larger student, and I'm tense every day that I walk throughout the halls. The suicidal thoughts of students occur often, not to mention how out of control they are. I would NOT recommend this school. Close Quote

About Students eligible for discounted/free lunch:

The National School Lunch Program (NSLP) provides low-cost or free meals to students in U.S. public and nonprofit private schools based on household income. Those with incomes below 130% of the poverty line receive free lunch, while those between 130% and 185% qualify for reduced-price lunch. The percentage of students receiving free or reduced-price lunch serves as a marker for poverty, as it reflects the socioeconomic status of families in a given school or district. A higher FRPL rate typically indicates a higher concentration of low-income families, suggesting that the school or district may face additional challenges in providing adequate resources and support for student success.

About Student-Teacher Ratio

Student/teacher ratio is calculated by dividing the total number of students by the total number of full-time equivalent teachers. Please note that a smaller student/teacher ratio does not necessarily translate to smaller class size. In some instances, schools hire teachers part time, and some teachers are hired for specialized instruction with very small class sizes. These and other factors contribute to the student/teacher ratio. Note: For private schools, Student/teacher ratio may not include Pre-Kindergarten.
