Summary

Cesar Chavez Elementary is a PK-5 public school in the Little Elm Independent School District (Isd), serving 424 students in a community where over 55% of families qualify for free or reduced lunch.

This school has experienced a significant decline over the past decade, dropping from a 60th percentile state ranking in 2016 to its current 23rd percentile (1-star rating). The most pressing concern is mathematics proficiency, with only 26.9% of 3rd graders, 17.1% of 4th graders, and 35.4% of 5th graders meeting state standards—well below district averages. However, there is a notable bright spot in 5th-grade reading, where 62.1% of students are proficient, exceeding both the district (55.5%) and state (58.5%) averages. The school also shows relative strength in serving its Special Education and English Language Learner students, ranking in the 46th and 32nd percentiles respectively for those subgroups.

The contrast with nearby schools in the Frisco Independent School District (Isd) is striking. Just three miles away, Miller Elementary (88th percentile), Robertson Elementary (87th percentile), and Corbell Elementary (85th percentile) all rank in the top 15% of Texas elementary schools. While Cesar Chavez has a favorable student-teacher ratio of 12.2:1 and higher per-student spending ($11,990) compared to Miller Elementary ($8,051), these resources have not translated into comparable academic outcomes. This suggests the school's path to improvement lies in re-evaluating instructional strategies and resource allocation rather than simply adding more funding.

Open Quote I have had 3 children in Cesar Chavez Elementary at some point over the previous 8 years. Two of my children were enrolled from K - 5th grade and currently we have one child that has been there from K through 2nd grade. We have been very involved parents with the PTA, teachers, and the administration. Our experience has been excellent and we have been very satisfied with most of the teachers that our children have had over the years. I would highly recommend Cesar Chavez to anyone thinking of moving into the LEISD school district. Close Quote
