Summary

Solar Preparatory School For Girls At Bonham is a public, all-girls elementary and middle school (PK-8) in Dallas, TX, serving 703 students within the Dallas Independent School District (Isd) and earning a top 10% statewide ranking for the 2025-2026 school year.

This school stands out for its exceptional academic performance across nearly every student group, consistently outperforming nearby DISD schools like Ben Milam Elementary and Ignacio Zaragoza Elementary by wide margins in subjects like reading and math. For example, in 3rd grade reading, Solar Prep for Girls scored nearly 88% proficient, compared to 54% at Ben Milam. It also outperforms its counterpart, Solar Prep For Boys At John F Kennedy, in most grade-level tests. The school is particularly effective for students from low socio-economic backgrounds and has shown a remarkable improvement in serving special education students, jumping from the 49th to the 96th percentile in just two years. Additionally, 8th graders have access to high school-level Algebra I, with nearly 89% scoring proficient—far above the district and state averages.

While Solar Prep for Girls is a top-tier choice within DISD, it still trails nearby Highland Park Independent School District (Isd) schools like Bradfield Elementary in raw test scores, highlighting the impact of socio-economic factors. A notable area for growth is its Gifted and Talented program, which ranks in the 38th percentile—a weakness for an otherwise high-performing school. Overall, the school demonstrates strong resilience, recovering from a pandemic-era dip to return to the top 10% of Texas elementary schools, and maintains a very low dropout rate, indicating a supportive and engaging environment for its students.

Many motivated parents and some of the most amazing teachers I have ever seen. The principal is in a league of her own and might be the best elementary school principal in Dallas Close Quote
