Summary

C R Clements/Hollie Parsons Elementary in Copperas Cove, TX, is a mid-sized school serving 847 students in grades K-5 within the Copperas Cove Independent School District (Isd), a district with a 3-star rating, and the school itself has consistently earned a 3-star rating over the past decade.

This school stands out for its exceptional performance in upper-grade math, particularly in 4th and 5th grade, where proficiency rates are the highest in the district, surpassing even the top-rated Martin Walker Elementary. For example, 5th-grade math proficiency at Clements/Parsons is 62.32%, well above the district average of 53.82%. The school also shows a strong and rapidly improving program for special education students, which recently earned a 4-star rating. However, a key challenge is 3rd-grade reading, where only 38.52% of students are proficient, significantly below the state average of 51.08%. This early literacy gap is a persistent weakness that, if addressed, could boost the school's overall ranking.

Compared to nearby schools, Clements/Parsons is a "math magnet" within the district, excelling where others like Martin Walker Elementary (a 4-star school) shine in early grades and science. While Martin Walker has stronger 3rd-grade reading (55.74%) and science (39.62%), Clements/Parsons outperforms it in 4th and 5th-grade math. The school has also made notable progress in closing achievement gaps, with male students jumping from the 43rd to the 62nd percentile in recent years. Science scores remain a district-wide weakness, with Clements/Parsons scoring 24.5% proficient, nearly identical to the district average. Overall, this is a solid school with a clear strength in math and promising trends in equity, but with room for growth in early reading.

Open Quote If I was able to give it 0 stars, I would. My niece has been the victim of two incidents within the last two weeks. Both times the children were left unattended by teachers. These incidents were easily preventable if the children had been supervised correctly. And in both incidents, the teachers blamed the child instead of taking accountability for their ineptitude. It's very obvious that the teachers and staff at this school are incapable of properly caring for children. Close Quote

Open Quote No recess for older grades. Classes are 90 minutes long without recess. Slave factory that's what it is. Carrying only about STAAR tests, and getting all crazy about it, forcing kids to take bunch of blueprint tests before actual test. Terrible school stay away if you can. Close Quote
