Summary

Lakeridge Elementary is a PK-5 school in the Cedar Hill Independent School District (Isd) serving 466 students, with about 60% qualifying for free or reduced lunch, and it has experienced a dramatic academic decline to the 4th percentile statewide in the 2025-2026 school year—its lowest point on record.

This school’s most defining feature is a recent and severe drop in performance across all core subjects. In the latest testing year, proficiency rates were alarmingly low: only 20.75% of 3rd graders met math standards (compared to 44.33% statewide), and just 24.53% of 4th graders were proficient in reading (state average: 53.04%). This collapse is especially stark when compared to nearby schools. For instance, Cora Spencer Elementary in Mansfield Independent School District (Isd) posted proficiency rates of 68-77% in the same subjects. Even more striking is the contrast with Cedar Hill Collegiate Prep, a school in the same district just 4.5 miles away, which soared to the 85th percentile—outperforming the state average in every subject despite having lower per-student spending ($8,795 vs. Lakeridge’s $12,462).

Perhaps most concerning is the collapse in support for vulnerable student groups. Lakeridge ranked in the bottom 2% for Special Education students and the bottom 1% for low-income students in 2025-2026—a shocking reversal from just two years prior, when it ranked in the top 7% for Special Education. This suggests a systemic failure in support systems that were once a strength. The school’s history shows it was capable of moderate performance, bouncing between the 19th and 44th percentiles, but the current data represents a crisis that demands urgent investigation into what changed in the 2024-2025 or 2025-2026 school year.
