Summary

Aubrey High School in Aubrey, TX, serves 1,135 students in grades 9-12 within the Aubrey Independent School District (Isd), and while it has a strong history of academic performance and a high graduation rate (95.1%), recent data shows a concerning decline in its state ranking from the 79th percentile in 2019 to the 48th percentile in 2026.

The school’s academic profile is a tale of two subjects. It excels in English Language Arts, with English II proficiency (65.61%) significantly higher than nearby schools like Little Elm High School (52.48%) and Ray Braswell High School (53.7%), and even above the state average. However, Algebra I proficiency is a critical weakness at just 22.15%, the lowest among comparable standard high schools in the area and far below the state average of 54.03%. This math struggle is a primary driver of the school’s overall ranking drop, especially when compared to high-performing peers like Lone Star High School and Panther Creek High School in the Frisco Independent School District (Isd), which consistently rank in the 82nd-88th percentile.

Interestingly, the school shows a paradox in supporting different student groups. While it performs relatively well for English Language Learner and Special Education students, it struggles significantly with its highest-achieving students, including Gifted and Talented students (1-star, 18th percentile). The school’s per-student spending ($10,566) is higher than the high-performing Frisco schools, suggesting the issue is not a lack of funding but how resources are allocated. With a student-teacher ratio of 16.1, higher than many nearby schools, and a notable disparity in serving students from low-income backgrounds, Aubrey High School is at a critical juncture where targeted improvements in math instruction and support for advanced learners are essential to reverse its downward trend.

Open Quote Let's phrase it this way, I would hope to crash my car before arriving so I didn't have to go anymore. I am a social person, I have moved lots and ALWAYS made friends. Not here. They are mean, rude, and just plain gossipers. It is very much the ideal small town country school. Cowboy boots and confederate flags. If you don't play a sport here, good luck. Academics mean nothing, and the administration does nothing to solve any issues- unless it involves football. There are some great teachers, but sadly they all left. Counselors don't care, principals are worse. Please don't send your kid here, unless they are a star athlete ) Close Quote
