Summary

Caprock High School is a public high school in Amarillo, Texas, serving 2,137 students in grades 9-12. It is part of the Amarillo Independent School District, which is ranked 411 out of 961 school districts in the state and has a 3-star rating from SchoolDigger.

Caprock High School consistently ranks in the lower half of Texas high schools, typically between 900-1200 out of around 1,900 schools. Its performance on STAAR End-of-Course (EOC) exams is generally below the district and state averages across subjects like Algebra I, Biology, English I/II, and U.S. History. The school has a 4-year graduation rate around 90%, which is on par with the district average but slightly below the state average, and a dropout rate around 1%, which is higher than the district and state averages.

Caprock High School's performance is generally lower than the other high schools in the Amarillo ISD, such as Amarillo High School and Tascosa High School, which tend to have higher rankings, better test scores, and higher graduation rates. The school's high percentage of economically disadvantaged students, around 76%, likely contributes to its lower academic performance compared to more affluent schools in the area. Addressing these challenges will require targeted interventions and support to ensure equitable outcomes for all students at Caprock High School.

Open Quote On 04-28-11, We passed Caprock High School in a funeral procession for my Father. The family of James Chambers would like to send thanks to the ball team for showing their utmost respect when they knelt down and with hats in hand they bowed their heads. These young men should be commended for honoring my father. You should be very proud of these young men. Thanks again
