Summary

Jack Anderson Elementary is a high-performing public elementary school in Hendersonville, Tennessee, serving 852 students in grades PK-5. The school is part of the Sumner County School District, which is ranked 30 out of 139 districts in the state and has a 4-star rating.

Jack Anderson Elementary consistently ranks among the top elementary schools in Tennessee, with its students performing significantly better than the Sumner County and state averages on the TNReady assessments for Mathematics, English Language Arts, and Science. For example, in the 2024-2025 school year, 69.2% of Jack Anderson students were proficient or better in Mathematics, compared to 58.7% in Sumner County and 42.2% statewide. The school also has strong performance across different student subgroups, with its male and female students ranking in the top 100 in the state. However, the school's low socioeconomic status (SES) students have a lower ranking, indicating an achievement gap that the school may need to address.

While the nearby schools in the Sumner County district, such as Gene W. Brown Elementary, Beech Elementary, and Nannie Berry Elementary, generally perform well, they lag behind Jack Anderson Elementary in academic achievement. The higher-performing schools, such as Indian Lake Elementary and Dr. William Burrus Elementary at Drakes Creek, are located slightly farther away but demonstrate that the Sumner County district has the capacity to produce high-achieving schools. However, Jack Anderson Elementary's increasing chronic absenteeism rate is an area of concern that the school should address to ensure continued student success.

Open Quote JA won the Sumner Choice Award for Best School 2013 & 2014! Go JA! I'm thankful for teachers who love and truly care about children. Dr A makes everyone feel welcome. I loved volunteering and can't wait for school to start back. My kids love going to art class and going to the new stem science lab. They are already guessing what kind of stem projects they will do this year. Close Quote

Open Quote I have 3 children at Jack Anderson. This is our second year at the school and I am very impressed with most of the teachers so far. I have a 5th grader with an IEP who has made great strides here thanks to his teachers and amazing IEP team. I have a 1st grader who has had new teachers both last year and this year . In her Kindergarden year she did amazing and had positive reinforcement from her teacher. This year I think her teacher lacks personality and understanding of my child and could be more positive in her teaching style, first graders need that.
I also have a 2nd grader who has had two wonderful years at JAE ! His teacher this year is Ms Bagwell I believe she deserves teacher of the year award for her work. She is truly a gifted teacher and should be a mentor for newer teacher. GREAT school GREAT teachers GREAT principal !!! Close Quote
