Summary

Norman Binkley Elementary is a public elementary school in Nashville, Tennessee, serving 714 students in grades PK-5. The school is part of the Davidson County school district, which is ranked 122 out of 139 districts in the state.

Norman Binkley Elementary has consistently ranked in the bottom half of Tennessee elementary schools, with proficiency rates in Math, English Language Arts, and Science significantly below the state and county averages. The school's performance varies across different student subgroups, with African American and White students performing relatively better, while Hispanic, English Language Learner, and low-income students struggle. Additionally, the school has high chronic absenteeism rates, which may be a contributing factor to its academic challenges.

Interestingly, nearby schools like John B. Whitsitt Elementary and Crieve Hall Elementary generally outperform Norman Binkley Elementary, with higher proficiency rates and better rankings. This suggests that the issues faced by Norman Binkley Elementary may be unique to the school and not necessarily reflective of the broader district or region. Addressing the root causes of these challenges, such as chronic absenteeism and the specific needs of the student population, will be crucial for the school to improve and provide a high-quality education for its students.

Open Quote I love this school. My daughter is in 4th grade and she started here when she was in second grade. The teachers are the best, and the principle's. Also the counselors are amazing and the special classes. My daughter has excelled in two years to above her grade level. They take their time and the love the student. If I could give this school a million stars I would. Close Quote
