Summary

Adrian Burnett Elementary is a public elementary school in Knoxville, Tennessee, serving 564 students in grades PK-5. The school is part of the Knox County school district, which is ranked 77 out of 139 districts in the state and has a 2-star rating from SchoolDigger.

Despite increased per-student spending over the years, Adrian Burnett Elementary consistently underperforms the Knox County and Tennessee averages in proficiency rates for Math, English Language Arts, and Science across all grade levels. For example, in the 2024-2025 school year, only 28.6% of Adrian Burnett students were proficient or better in Math, compared to 43.2% for Knox County and 42.2% for Tennessee. The school's performance is particularly low in 3rd and 4th grade Math and ELA, where proficiency rates are around 20-25%. Additionally, Adrian Burnett has high chronic absenteeism rates, ranging from 18.9% to 21.0% over the past few years, significantly higher than the state average.

Interestingly, several nearby schools in the Knox County district, such as Brickey McCloud Elementary and Halls Elementary, significantly outperform Adrian Burnett Elementary on test scores and other metrics, despite serving similar student populations. This suggests that the school may need to implement comprehensive improvement strategies to address its challenges and better serve its students.

Open Quote Growing up, I always hated school. Adrian Burnett is a run down, crappy school with bad teachers and poor education. When I came to Halls Middle, I had a way better time learning. Also, they steal the NFL Arizona Cardinals logo and claim it's their own. But, it isn't, Plus, I'm a Tennessee Titans fan. All the kids acted like the kids from South Park and the detention is too strict for kids. Overall, come here if you want your kid to grow up to a mule. Close Quote
