Summary

East North Street Academy is a public magnet elementary school serving 704 students in grades PK-5 in Greenville, South Carolina, which is part of the Greenville 01 school district. While the district is ranked 11th out of 75 in the state and has a 4-star rating, East North Street Academy has maintained a 3-star rating from SchoolDigger over the past several years.

The school faces significant challenges, as evidenced by its lower test scores compared to the district and state averages. For example, in 2024-2025, the school's proficiency rates in ELA and Math for 3rd-5th grades ranged from 48.2% to 58.4%, compared to 59.7% to 70.7% for the Greenville 01 district. Additionally, East North Street Academy has had high chronic absenteeism rates, ranging from 22.9% to 24.7% over the past few years, which is significantly higher than the state average. The school also serves a high-poverty student population, with 100% of its students qualifying for free or reduced-price lunch.

Compared to nearby schools in the Greenville 01 district, East North Street Academy's performance is generally lower. For instance, Augusta Circle Elementary and Stone Academy, both magnet schools, consistently rank among the top 10 elementary schools in the state and have significantly higher proficiency rates than East North Street Academy. While the school spends more per student ($13,265 in 2023-2024) compared to the district average, its student-teacher ratio is lower than some nearby schools, suggesting that additional resources may not be translating into improved academic outcomes.

Open Quote I strongly disagree with your ratings. ENSA tested above many of the schools you have ranked above them. In fact, schools that only received a “Good” rating are ranked above them when they received an “Excellent” this year. Your statistics are off on multiple areas. Visit this school once and you will see the amazing things they are doing. I hope people read this review and realize how biased your reviews are and search a different site. Close Quote
