Philomath Middle School is a 6th–8th grade school serving 351 students in Philomath, Oregon, part of Philomath School District 17J. In 2025–2026 it ranked 104th of 371 Oregon middle schools — 72nd percentile, 4 stars — a rebound from 3 stars in each of the two prior years, though still below its 2014–2017 peak in the 81st–85th percentile. That is notably stronger than the district overall (75th of 141 districts, 47th percentile, 2 stars). It is the smallest school among its nearby peers, including Corvallis School District 509J's Cheldelin Middle School and Linus Pauling Middle School, and Greater Albany Public School District 8J's Timber Ridge School, Calapooia Middle School, North Albany Middle School, and Memorial Middle School.

Math and science are the standout subjects.
