Summary

Corbett School is an alternative public charter school located in Corbett, Oregon, serving grades K-12 with a total enrollment of 1,062 students. As part of the Corbett School District 39, the school has a unique focus on providing an alternative educational experience for its diverse student population.

One of Corbett School's key strengths is its consistently high four-year graduation rates, ranging from 81.3% to 96.1% over the past few years, significantly higher than the state average of around 80%. However, the school also faces challenges, such as a relatively high chronic absenteeism rate, ranging from 31.7% to 38.9%, notably higher than the state average of around 20%. Corbett School's test scores in English Language Arts, Mathematics, and Science are generally below the state averages, with some grade levels performing better than others. For example, 11th-grade ELA scores are around 26% proficient, compared to the state average of 44.4%.

When compared to nearby alternative and charter schools, Corbett School's performance is mixed. For instance, Metropolitan Learning Center in Portland has higher test scores in ELA and Math, but lower graduation rates. Meanwhile, Summit Learning Charter in Eagle Creek has higher test scores in some areas but lower student-teacher ratios. Corbett School's higher-than-average spending per student, ranging from $16,008 in 2021-2022 to $17,424 in 2022-2023, may indicate a focus on providing additional resources and support for its students, which could be contributing to the school's relatively high graduation rates.

Open Quote I'm here to tell you The Emperor has no clothes. The ratings for this school (High School) are based on an over simplistic formula. It does not accurately gauge the quality of the school. Check it out yourself. We came to this school with high expectations. We have been utterly dissillusioned. They don't give out grades (no accountability), discourage parent involvment and have some very young and inexperienced teachers. I'm sure there are good teachers here but we did not get one of them. Unfortunately the administration is dictatorial and view parents with disdain. Don't believe the hype! Close Quote
