Summary:

The six elementary schools in Grants Pass School District 7 in southern Oregon serve about 2,282 students, with most schools covering grades K–5 and Highland Elementary School serving PK–5. Enrollment at individual schools ranges from 344 to 443 students. The district overall ranks 29th of 141 Oregon districts — the 79th percentile, with 4 stars — so families here are choosing among schools in a relatively strong district, even though results vary from building to building. Test scores below are from 2025–26; attendance, poverty, spending and class-size figures are from 2024–25.

Riverside Elementary School posts the strongest overall academic profile: the top English/language arts (56.8%), science (44.4%), and 5th-grade results, plus the highest rank (193rd of 709, 73rd percentile). Redwood Elementary School leads in math (45.7%) and has by far the lowest chronic absenteeism (19.4%), well below the district's 31.8% and the state's 33.5%. Lincoln Elementary School is the most improved, climbing from the 45th to the 64th percentile, and spends the least ($16,903) while still posting the second-highest science score. Highland Elementary School is the most balanced, above the district in math and science. Allen Dale Elementary School has the lowest science score (21.4%), and Parkside Elementary has the smallest classes (15.6 students per teacher) but the lowest math (33.3%).

Three patterns stand out. Math is a strength: all six schools beat the state's 32.9%, averaging 41.7%. Science is the weakest area, averaging 34.2% and pulled down by Allen Dale and Parkside. Fourth-grade ELA is a district-wide trouble spot — every school falls below the state's 43.5% — while 5th-grade ELA is much stronger, led by Riverside at 75.4%. Notably, attendance, spending and class size don't line up neatly with achievement, and all six schools serve high-poverty populations (free/reduced lunch between 69.77% and 74.31%) while several still outperform the state.
