High Schools in Bend-LaPine Administrative School District 1

The Bend-LaPine Administrative School District 1 area includes seven high schools serving grades 9–12, with a combined enrollment of 5,705 students. Four large comprehensive high schools — Caldera High School, Summit High School, Bend Senior High School, and Mountain View Senior High School — enroll about 87.7% of those students, while three smaller schools — LaPine Senior High School, Realms High School, and Bend Technical Academy — serve the remaining 12.3%. The district as a whole ranks 34th of 141 districts, 76th percentile, 4 stars, but at the school level only Mountain View currently holds a 4-star rating in 2025–2026.

Mountain View is the academic standout, leading all seven schools in ELA (57.2% proficient), math (35.4%), and science (34.5%) at 11th grade, and ranking 77th of 271 schools (72nd percentile, 4 stars). Summit has the strongest graduation rate at 96.8%, well above the district's 85.8% and the state's 83.0%, though its rank slipped from 4 stars to 2 stars this year. Realms serves a very different population, with a free/reduced lunch rate of 98.65% against roughly 48% elsewhere, and still posts an 88.2% graduation rate and the group's highest science proficiency at 38.1%. At the other end, Bend Technical Academy ranks 252nd of 271 (7th percentile, 0 stars) and LaPine has the lowest graduation rate at 73.8%.

Two patterns stand out for families. First, chronic absenteeism is high everywhere: every school exceeds the district's 34.2% and the state's 33.5%, with Bend Technical Academy at 53.6% and Caldera at 52.9%, and even the lowest, Bend Senior at 35.4%, above both benchmarks. Second, math is the weakest subject across the group — Bend Senior, LaPine, and Bend Technical Academy are all under 5% proficient, and only Mountain View and Summit exceed the state's 22.9%. The three smallest schools spend the most per student and have the lowest student-teacher ratios, but results are mixed; Mountain View spends less and performs best. One data-quality note: Caldera's reported student-teacher ratio of 118.8 is far out of line with every other school and is likely a reporting anomaly.
