Summary

Whitebead Public School is an elementary school serving grades PK-8 in Pauls Valley, Oklahoma, with 311 students. The school is part of the Whitebead school district, which is ranked 221 out of 452 districts in the state and has a 3-star rating from SchoolDigger.

Whitebead Public School has some notable strengths, including outperforming the state average in several key test score metrics, such as 32% proficiency in English Language Arts compared to the state's 26%, and 47% proficiency in Science compared to 30% statewide. The school also ranks 104th out of 506 Oklahoma elementary schools for its performance with low socioeconomic status students, earning a 4-star rating in this category. Additionally, Whitebead Public School has a relatively low student-teacher ratio, ranging from 11.6 to 15.4, compared to nearby schools with ratios around 14-16.

However, the school's statewide ranking has declined from 123rd in 2017-2018 to 296th in 2024-2025, despite maintaining a 3-star rating. This suggests the school may be struggling to keep pace with improvements at other schools in the state. Another area of concern is the significant increase in chronic absenteeism, from 12.1% in 2022-2023 to 19.0% in 2024-2025. When compared to nearby schools, Elmore City-Pernell Elementary and Wayne Elementary also have strong performance, with higher test scores in some areas than Whitebead. The nearby Paoli Elementary and Pauls Valley Elementary schools also have higher spending per student and lower student-teacher ratios, which may contribute to their stronger academic performance.

Open Quote My two sons went to Whitebead and both were in the top ten per cent. They both are now grown and own thriving businesses and the other is a General Manager for a large corporation in Oklahoma. Whitebead school with its goals and educators played a major roll in their education and success as productive citizens. Close Quote
