Summary:

Coyle Elementary School and Coyle High School are the area’s two schools, serving prekindergarten through grade 12 and enrolling 251 and 96 students, respectively. Results vary by school and subject: High’s 2025–26 all-grades ELA and science results were above the state rates, while Elementary’s were below; both schools’ math results were below the state. Because the schools serve different grades, all-grades school-to-school comparisons are descriptive, not like-for-like. The clearest shared concern is math: Elementary scored 15% against 25% statewide, and High scored 12% against 25%.

Coyle High School stands out in grade 11, with results above the state in ELA by 2 percentage points (38% vs. 36%), science by 10 points (31% vs. 21%) and U.S. History by 5 points (46% vs. 41%); math was 5 points below (12% vs. 17%). Coyle Elementary School’s grade 5 results were much farther below state results: 17 points in ELA, 21 in math and 20 in science. Its grade 6 ELA result was closer, just 2 points below the state, though grade 6 math was 18 points below. SchoolDigger’s 2025–26 rankings also place High higher, at the 72nd percentile, than Elementary, at the 16th percentile.

Both schools’ all-grades results improved relative to the state over the two years, though the changes were uneven. Elementary rose 3 points in ELA and math and 1 point in science; High’s ELA rose 24 points to 38%, science rose 5 points and math rose 6 points. High’s U.S. History score fell 4 points to 46%, but remained 5 points above the state. SchoolDigger’s rankings show a sharp recent rise for High, from the 44th percentile in 2024–25 to the 72nd in 2025–26, while Elementary declined from the 73rd percentile in 2020–21. As context, in 2024–25, free/reduced lunch eligible shares were 69% at Elementary and 67% at High; student-teacher ratios were 19 and 12.8. In 2025–26, chronic absenteeism was 11% at Elementary and 16% at High, compared with 16% statewide; High’s 2024–25 graduation rate was 89%, 11 points above the state.
