Kenton Middle School is a 285-student school serving grades 6–8 in Kenton, Ohio, and is the middle-level school of the Kenton City district in a small northwest-Ohio community. Statewide it ranks 666th of 1,046 schools — 36th percentile, 2 stars — which is better than its own district (28th percentile, 1 star) but down from a peak of 53rd percentile and 3 stars in 2020–21.

Academically, the school has two very different stories. Its advanced-math pathway is exceptional: 94.3% of Algebra I students were proficient, 32.7 points above the state average and sustained across four years. Gifted and talented students rose to the 90th percentile (5 stars). The grade-level core is weaker: 36.0% proficient in 7th-grade math, 37.3% in 8th-grade math, 40.5% in 6th-grade ELA, and 46.4% in 7th-grade ELA — the last 16.3 points below the state and down from 65.8% in 2022–23. Nearby schools with similar or higher poverty are getting better grade-level results; Elgin Middle School, with 59.1% economically disadvantaged students versus Kenton's 55.4%, reached 80.3% in 8th-grade science.

Attendance is the biggest structural challenge.
