Summary:

Riverdale Local is a small district in the Mt Blanchard area of Ohio serving 947 students across four schools: two elementaries covering grades K-2 and 3-5, one middle school for grades 6-8, and one high school for grades 9-12, all located at the same State Route 37 address. The district ranks 448 out of 773 Ohio districts, in the 42nd percentile with 2 stars.

Riverdale Elementary School (grades 3-5) is the clear standout: it is the only school with 3 stars in 2025-2026 and has held 3-star rankings for three straight years (55th percentile now). It also has the district's lowest chronic absenteeism at 7.5% (versus 16.2% district-wide) and the lowest student-teacher ratio at 15.7, with 3rd and 4th grade math and ELA well above state averages — though its 5th grade math, ELA, and science fall below state. Riverdale Middle School is uneven: 7th grade math (75.9 vs 48.6 state) and 7th grade ELA are bright spots, but 6th and 8th grade math and 8th grade science are far below state, and the school slipped from 3 stars to 2 stars. Riverdale High School posts a 97.0% graduation rate and above-state results in government, history, English II, and biology, but math is weak (Algebra I 45.1 vs 61.6 state) and chronic absenteeism is very high at 30.8%.

A few cautions for families: Riverdale Elementary School (grades K-2) has no current test scores because state testing begins in 3rd grade, so judge it on attendance (8.5%) and its 17.9 student-teacher ratio only. Free/reduced lunch is reported only for the high school (99.07%), and spending figures date to 2018-2019. Overall, performance varies sharply by grade and subject, with early elementary grades strongest and 5th grade through high school math the weakest.
