Summary

Crestview High School is a 249-student, grades 9–12 school in rural Convoy, Ohio (Van Wert County), and it is the only high school in the Crestview Local district, where nearly every student comes from an economically disadvantaged household.

Academically, Crestview beats the state in five of six End-of-Course subjects while serving a student body that is 98.8% economically disadvantaged — the second-highest rate in its local comparison group. Its strongest results are in social studies: American History proficiency is 93.6 versus Ohio's 73.2, and American Government is 88.9 versus 71.6. Geometry (55.7 vs. 43.3), English II (74.6 vs. 62.7) and Biology (78.5 vs. 67.0) are also above state. Algebra I is the clear exception at 58.3, below Ohio's 61.6 and the only subject where the school trails its own district. Among nearby schools, Ottoville High School (96th percentile) and Lincolnview Junior/Senior High School (83rd) rank ahead of Crestview (74th), while Parkway High School, Wayne Trace High School, Jefferson High School, Antwerp Local High School, Paulding High School and Van Wert High School rank below it.

Two trends deserve a parent's attention. First, the school's statewide rank has slipped from the 88th percentile in 2021-22 to the 74th in 2025-26, driven mainly by English II and Geometry rather than a broad decline. Second, results for low-income students — effectively the whole building — fell sharply from the 81st to the 47th percentile in a single year, even as special education results stayed strong at the 85th percentile. Chronic absenteeism has climbed steadily to 15.6%, well above the district's 10.2%, while graduation remains high at 96.9%. Resources do not appear to be the constraint: class sizes average 8.5 students per teacher, the smallest among nearby high schools.
