Lakota Middle School is a small, rural school serving 288 students in grades 5–8 in the village of Kansas, Ohio, in Seneca County, and it is the middle-level building of Lakota Local, a district that ranks in the lower half of Ohio. The school itself ranks higher than its district — roughly the middle of all Ohio schools in 2025–26 — and that gap is worth noting: Lakota Middle School is outperforming the district it belongs to.

Achievement here splits sharply by grade rather than by subject. Grade 5 math and science, grade 6 math, grade 8 math, and Algebra I all land comfortably above state averages, with Algebra I at 95.5% against a 61.6% state rate — though that result reflects a small, advanced group of 8th graders, not the whole grade.
