River High School is a small public high school serving grades 9–12 in the rural community of Hannibal, OH, and is part of the Switzerland of Ohio Local district. With about 180 students, it is smaller than Monroe Central High School (246 students) and larger than Swiss Hills Career Center (139 students, grades 10–12). River’s statewide rank in 2025–2026 is 517 of 795, or the 35th percentile with 2 stars; the district ranks 493 of 773 (36th percentile). River has been consistently lower-middle ranked statewide, but its recent history shows improvement over the past decade — from the 26th percentile in 2018–2019 to the 35th percentile in 2025–2026, peaking at the 42nd percentile in 2020–2021.

English II has improved sharply, from 37.1% in 2022–23 to 61.5% in 2025–26. Among student groups, the school ranked strongly for Special Education students in 2023–24 (125 of 598, 79th percentile, 4 stars) but very low for Gifted and Talented students (6th–12th percentile in recent years) — the most striking gap in the data.
