Switzerland of Ohio Local serves about 1,790 students across 8 schools: 5 elementary schools that run PK–8 and 3 high schools, two comprehensive and one career center. Because there are no standalone middle schools, middle-grade results live inside the elementary buildings. The district ranks 493rd out of 773 Ohio districts (36th percentile, 2 stars), with elementary schools compared against roughly 1,560 elementaries and high schools against roughly 795 high schools.

Among elementaries, Woodsfield Elementary School is the largest (363 students) and strongest overall, averaging 62.9% proficiency, with the district's top 3rd grade ELA score at 91.3%. Skyvue Elementary School is the most consistent, holding 51–52% and 3 stars for three years, and posts 3rd grade math at 95.2%. River Elementary School has a striking 3rd grade math result of 97.1%, but 6th grade ELA drops to 25.6%. Beallsville Elementary School combines the highest free/reduced lunch rate (86.76%) with the lowest chronic absenteeism (19.2%). Powhatan Elementary School faces the biggest academic challenge, averaging 46.9% and a 33.7% absenteeism rate.

At the high school level, Monroe Central High School shines in American Government at 84.3%, while River High School has the district's highest graduation rate at 93.8% and top Algebra I score of 80.4%, yet also the highest absenteeism at 34.2%. Geometry and Biology are district-wide weak spots. Swiss Hills Career Center has no test, rank, graduation, or absenteeism data available.
