Summary

Silver Creek Elementary School is a public elementary school in Toledo, Ohio, serving 672 students in grades K-6. It is part of the Washington Local School District, which is ranked 556 out of 828 districts in the state.

Silver Creek Elementary faces significant challenges, consistently ranking in the bottom quarter of Ohio elementary schools with a 1-star rating from SchoolDigger. Its proficiency rates on state tests are significantly lower than the district and state averages. The school also struggles with high chronic absenteeism rates, ranging from 23.1% to 30.4% in recent years, well above the state average. Additionally, Silver Creek has equity concerns, with its diverse student population underperforming compared to their peers at other schools.

Interestingly, the other Washington Local elementary schools, such as Greenwood Elementary and McGregor Elementary, perform significantly better than Silver Creek on state assessments and have higher SchoolDigger ratings, despite serving similar student populations. In contrast, Elmhurst Elementary, which is part of the Toledo City School District, outperforms Silver Creek and the other Washington Local schools by a wide margin, suggesting that factors beyond just student demographics can have a substantial impact on academic outcomes.

Open Quote I hated this school, the rules were very strict and in my second year, we weren't even allowed to be with out freinds at lunch or recess. I feel bad for the kids who have to spend all 6 years of thier Elementary School life at this school. It was absolute tourture for me. The classes were bland and the curiculum was boring. Everything about the school just oozed despair. In my second year there, which, thankfully was my last year there, WE WEREN'T EVEN ALLOWED TO TOUCH THE WALLS!!! The loop was horrible and there would be a line going all the way out to Laskey for dimissal. Busses were bad too becuase we would have to sit on the hard gym floor for nearly a quater of an hour just so we could get on the bus. Going to that school was one of the worst experiences of my life and I never even want to see that place again exept to see it crumble to the ground! Close Quote

Open Quote I do not like this old school nor do I like the traffic and pick up situation!! A child is going to get hit running to the carryout, while the parents are overcrowding to pick up their children. When they could easily have PAVED OR SUPPLIED US WITH AMPLE PARKING ACROSS THE STREET. And have a adult guard to safely cross our children!! The drop off is a joke, the loop is a joke and no light to help anyone out.The thing they call a loop is ridiculis!! Close Quote
