Summary

Worthington Hills Elementary School is a K–5 school serving 528 students at 1221 Candlewood Dr. in the northern Columbus/Worthington area (43235), part of the Worthington City district.

In 2025–26, Worthington Hills ranked 173rd of 1,560 Ohio elementary schools — 89th percentile, 4 stars — which puts it in roughly the top 11% of elementary schools statewide and well above its own district's 78th percentile. Every grade-level test result the state reported beats both the district and state averages, with the widest margins in Grade 5 ELA (94.9%, +24.5 points over the state) and Grade 3 math (90.8%). Chronic absenteeism is 6.4%, less than half the district's 15.2%, and only 6.63% of students qualify for free or reduced lunch — among the lowest rates in the area. The school also posts these results with a slightly higher student–teacher ratio (18.2) than several nearby schools. Locally it sits in the second tier: Bluffsview Elementary School (96th percentile, 5 stars), Evening Street Elementary School (94th) and Tyler Run Elementary School (96th, Olentangy Local) rank higher, while most others nearby — including Granby Elementary School, just 0.3 miles away at the 54th percentile, and Slate Hill Elementary School at the 38th — rank well below.

The standout finding is how well the school serves its special education students: 93rd percentile statewide (67th of 914 schools) in 2025–26, following three straight years of 5-star results that actually exceed the school's overall ranking. Grade 5 is the strongest grade, while Grade 4 is the soft spot — ELA at 76.3% and math at 80.0%, both declining over four years and only slightly ahead of the district. Grade 5 science (74.7%) is just 2 points above the district and clearly behind nearby Bluffsview, Evening Street and Tyler Run. Male students (92nd percentile) outperform female students (87th), and gifted and talented students rank at the 71st percentile — the lowest reported subgroup. Overall, this is a consistently strong, low-poverty, low-absence school that has climbed from about the 78th percentile in the late 2010s and held near 89–92nd since, with the clearest room to grow in Grade 4 and Grade 5 science.

Open Quote We think it's ridiculous that as much as we've pay in taxes a year, over $9500/year, that the ratings for Worthington is so low. Only Evening Street comes up to par. We've talked to various kids that have attended Worthington Hills Elementary and most say how easy the curriculum is, and not very challenging. His father is an attorney in our neighborhood. Perhaps, he's just gifted. But, that's too bad, as he'll never achieve his potential at Worthington schools. Something should be done with the principal that allows this to happen. Close Quote
