Summary

North Olmsted High School is a public high school serving 1,145 students in grades 9-12 in North Olmsted, Ohio, which is part of the North Olmsted City School District. While the school has consistently high graduation rates, it faces some concerning trends, including declining performance over time and higher chronic absenteeism compared to top-performing nearby schools.

North Olmsted High School's test scores on the Ohio State Tests are generally above the state average, but lag behind the top-performing nearby schools like Columbia High School, Rocky River High School, and Bay High School, which have proficiency rates ranging from 70-90%. Additionally, North Olmsted High School has seen a significant increase in its free/reduced lunch rate, rising from 34.91% in 2022-2023 to 47.51% in 2023-2024, which may be contributing to its lower performance compared to wealthier nearby districts.

However, North Olmsted High School appears to be doing a relatively good job of supporting its African American, Hispanic, and Special Education student subgroups compared to other Ohio high schools. Addressing the chronic absenteeism issue and learning from the practices of the highest-performing nearby schools could be key focus areas for North Olmsted High School to improve its overall performance and continue to serve its diverse student population effectively.
