Hilltonia Middle School is a grades 6–8 school at 2345 W Mound St. in Columbus, OH, serving 420 students as part of the Columbus City Schools District, which ranks 683rd of 773 districts in Ohio (12th percentile, 1 star). Recent years are somewhat improved from the 2017–18 and 2018–19 lows, but there is no sustained upward trend.

Nearby Westmoor Middle School (71.4% chronically absent) is similarly low-ranked, while Wedgewood Middle School has much lower absenteeism (56.3%) and outperforms Hilltonia in nearly every tested subject. Some grade levels are improving — grade 6 math rose from 10.3% to 19%, grade 6 ELA from 12.5% to 22.6%, and grade 7 ELA from 12.4% to 24% — though grade 8 ELA slipped from 12.3% to 10.3%. Relative effectiveness for English Language Learner students improved from the 5th to the 18th percentile. the school is dirty and the teachers are mean and they wont let you go to the bathroom even if its an emergency in 7th and 8th period writing on the bathroom stalls kids fight in bathrooms and the kids there are really bad and they get in a lot of fights. Close Quote

I am an 8th grader at Hilltonia. I don't think this school is a good one. The teachers don't care, the students get away with anythng and it seems like teachers pick favorites and let them disrupt class, but if I just ask on "off task question" then I detention or written up. Also, there is little disipline here. There are fights and rumors everyday. The teachers end up suspending the kid who got beat up because they have their favorites. Overall, it is a very poor school choice. Close Quote
