Summary

Wedgewood Middle School is a public middle school on Columbus’s west side at 3800 Briggs Rd, serving grades 6–8 with about 476 students as part of the Columbus City Schools District.

On Ohio’s 2025–2026 middle-school ranking, the school placed 828th of 1,046 schools (21st percentile, 1 star), a bottom-quartile result. It is the strongest of its three nearby district peers: Hilltonia Middle School ranked 936th (11th percentile) and Westmoor Middle School ranked 960th (8th percentile, 0 stars). The school’s 8th-grade math proficiency was 35.6% versus 16.1% at Westmoor and 11.8% at Hilltonia, and its 8th-grade ELA was 33.6% versus 18.2% and 10.3%. It is stronger in math and science than reading: it beat the district in every math and science test but fell below it in 6th- and 7th-grade ELA. Algebra I proficiency was 93.3% in 2025–2026 and 100% the year before, versus a district rate of 22–26%, likely a small accelerated cohort. Eighth grade has improved over four years—math from 16.7% to 35.6%, ELA from 23.4% to 33.6%, science from 31.6% to 37.4%—but 6th-grade math dropped from 40.4% to 31.9% as the district improved.
