Upper Arlington City is a top-decile Ohio district of roughly 6,452 students spread across nine schools — five elementaries (K–5), two middle schools (6–8), Upper Arlington High School, and a 6–12 online academy. The district ranks 54th of 773 Ohio districts (93rd percentile, 5 stars), and virtually every school outperforms state averages by a wide margin.
The strongest elementaries are Windermere Elementary School (25th of 1,560 Ohio elementaries, 98th percentile), Greensview Elementary School (51st, 97th) and Barrington Road Elementary School (67th, 96%) — Barrington is the largest elementary at 800 students yet has the district's lowest poverty indicator (2.5% free/reduced lunch) and just 2.8% chronic absenteeism. Tremont Elementary School has improved every year, from the 79th to the 89th percentile. At the secondary level, Hastings Middle School ranks 73rd of 1,046 (93rd percentile), with Algebra I at 97.7% and Geometry at 100%. Upper Arlington High averages about 88% proficiency across its six end-of-course subjects versus a state average near 63%, and graduates 98.1% of students.
Two internal gaps deserve attention. Wickliffe Elementary School is the only school with a below-state result — 5th grade science at 59.5% against Ohio's 62.7% — and the elementary tier splits between Windermere, Greensview and Barrington (94th–99th percentile) and Wickliffe (74th–78th) and Tremont (79th–89th). Jones Middle School has slid from the 96th to the 88th percentile, and its 8th grade math (50.7%) is below the state (52.0%). Chronic absenteeism is largely a secondary issue: Upper Arlington High (17.4%) and Upper Arlington Online Academy (37.8%) sit far above the 9.0% district rate and the 2.7–5.1% elementary range. The Online Academy, with just 47 students, is the district's only 3-star school (81.8% graduation). Note that the high school's 72.0% Algebra I figure reflects a later cohort, since most strong math students finish Algebra I in middle school.
