Summary

Mt. Airy School is a PK–5 elementary school serving 594 students on Colerain Avenue in Cincinnati's Mt. Airy neighborhood, part of Cincinnati Public Schools, and in 2025–26 it ranked 1,431st of 1,560 Ohio elementary schools — 8th percentile, zero stars, and the weakest result in its ten-year record.

About 26.6% of students in grades 3–5 tested proficient on average, versus roughly 49% across Cincinnati Public Schools and 64% statewide. The sharpest contrast is Monfort Heights Elementary School, 1.7 miles away: nearly identical enrollment (588 vs. 594) and the same 17.8:1 student–teacher ratio, yet roughly 42 percentage points more proficiency and a 47-percentile-point higher state ranking. Chronic absenteeism separates them most — 53.5% at Mt. Airy, against 13.2% at Monfort Heights and 23.0% at Struble Elementary School. Notably, Mt. Airy reports the highest per-student spending of the nearby schools compared, so money and staffing don't explain the gap. Roll Hill School is the closest overall match in rank and results.

There are bright spots: absenteeism has fallen about eight points since 2021–22; third-grade math (44.8% proficient) is Mt. Airy's strongest subject and has twice beaten the district average in four years; and special education students rose from the 18th to the 50th percentile (two stars) in two years. Fifth-grade science, however, has sat near 27% for four years while Ohio stayed around 63%, and math scores drop steeply between third and fourth grade. Grade 6 was also removed from the school in 2025–26, which may partly lower schoolwide averages.
