Summary

Chase School is a small elementary school at 4151 Turrill St in Cincinnati's Northside neighborhood, serving 263 students in grades PK–7 as part of Cincinnati Public Schools. It has the smallest enrollment in its immediate peer group and the lowest student-teacher ratio among nearby schools (11.7 in 2024-25), yet it is consistently low-ranked: 1275th of 1560 Ohio schools in 2025-26 (18th percentile, 1 star), and it has stayed between the 16th and 27th percentile every year for a decade.

On 2025-26 state tests, Chase averaged roughly 34.6% proficient across grades 3–6 math and English language arts, compared with about 47.1% for the district and 62.1% for the state. The pattern is not uniform. Third-grade English language arts is a real bright spot, beating the district four years in a row (64.3% vs 58.9% this year), while grades 5 and 6 fall 19–26 points behind the district. Because these are largely the same children moving up through the grades, that gap points to something changing between early and upper elementary rather than to how students arrive.

The sharpest concern is chronic absenteeism: 59.2% in 2025-26, up about 12 points in a single year and roughly 15 points above the district. That is far higher than Parker Woods Montessori School (24.1%), just 0.55 miles away, or Fairview-Clifton German Language School (8.7%), though lower than Roll Hill School (66.3%) and Winton Hills Academy (69.4%). Overall, Chase sits mid-to-low in its cluster — ahead of Leap Academy and Roll Hill, but behind Parker Woods, Clifton Area Neighborhood School, and James N. Gamble Montessori Elementary School. One strength worth noting: the school's African American students ranked 37th percentile and its special-education students 39th percentile, both 2 stars and well above its 18th-percentile overall rank.
