Summary

Noble Academy-Columbus is a K–8 charter school at 1329 Bethel Rd in Columbus, Ohio, serving 294 students across nine grades, and it is the only K–8 option in a cluster of nearby schools that otherwise stop at fifth grade. It operates as its own single-school district and has ranked in the bottom quarter of Ohio schools for a decade: in 2025–26 it placed 1,235th of 1,560 schools, the 21st percentile and its lowest mark in eleven years. The area mixes high-poverty Columbus City neighborhoods with much wealthier Upper Arlington blocks.

Its standout result is attendance. Chronic absenteeism fell from 41.3% in 2022–23 to 14.6% in 2025–26 — a two-thirds drop — which is lower than every nearby Columbus City Schools District school, below the district rate of 53.8%, and close to Mater Academy Preparatory Inc. (14.3%). That is notable because Noble serves the highest-poverty student body in the comparison group, with 86.67%–88.46% of students qualifying for free/reduced lunch, versus under 10% at Greensview Elementary School and Windermere Elementary School in Upper Arlington City. Per-pupil spending is $7,600, the lowest in the group and about half of what those two Upper Arlington schools spend.

Academics remain the challenge. Averaged across 14 tested measures in 2025–26, proficiency is about 44% against a state average near 60%, and the school beat the state in just 2 of 14 measures — both in middle-school math, where 8th grade reached 77.8% versus 52.0% statewide and 7th grade 57.1% versus 48.6%. Science is the most persistent weakness, below state at both tested grades for four straight years, and early grades lag badly (4th grade ELA: 21.4% versus 61.8%). With roughly 30 students per grade, single-year swings are large, so parents should look at multi-year trends.

This school is the worst charter school we have ever attended. The administration is HORRIBLE. Unprofessional all the way up. They lie and retaliate when you try to speak with them about it. They do not handle bullying to code. They belittle and shame students. Even in front of others. I switched my son to a new school and now he loves school again. "Horizon science academy" who have helped him bring up all his grades that slipped in Nobel. Nobel promises to tutor and help but have no follow through. DO NOT CHOSE THIS SCHOOL. Close Quote
