Summary

ReGeneration Schools Avondale Elementary is a public charter elementary school located in Cincinnati, Ohio, serving grades K-4 with a total enrollment of 126 students. Unfortunately, this school has consistently ranked among the lowest-performing elementary schools in Ohio over the past several years, maintaining a 0-star rating from SchoolDigger for most of the past decade.

The school's performance on state tests is particularly low, with proficiency rates well below the state averages across all grade levels and subject areas. For example, in the 2024-2025 school year, the school's 3rd-grade math proficiency rate was 30.4% compared to the state average of 64.4%, and its 3rd-grade ELA proficiency rate was only 4.3% compared to the state average of 61.3%. Additionally, the school has struggled with extremely high chronic absenteeism rates, ranging from 80.4% to 83.2% over the past several years, which is significantly higher than the state average.

When comparing ReGeneration Schools Avondale Elementary to the nearby public schools in the Cincinnati Public Schools district, the performance gap is significant. Schools like Evanston Academy, North Avondale Montessori School, and Clifton Area Neighborhood School all have higher test scores, lower chronic absenteeism rates, and better overall performance than ReGeneration Schools Avondale Elementary. Additionally, the school's lower per-student spending and higher student-teacher ratios may be contributing factors to its poor performance.

Open Quote The Phoenix Community Learning Center moved into a recently renovated building on Washington Avenue, in Avondale. The building is beautiful, with state of the art classrooms, electronic boards, PC's and Mac laptops for student resources, as well as a comprehensive library.

From the Superintendent to the new teachers, the faculty and staff do an outstanding job to provide a safe, effective and comfortable learning environment. The new school has lovely landscaped grounds, complete with a wrought iron fence and gates to assure security while the students are outside. The dining room is a place for acquiring social skills that will be very helpful later in life, and the classrooms are quiet areas of focus, with certified teaching tutors to assist the classroom teachers.

The school also has a strong alumni association, and the majority of students who have graduated and gone through high school are now performing very successfully in college! Close Quote
