Summary

Midlakes Middle/High School is a public school serving grades 7-12 in the Phelps-Clifton Springs Central School District, located in Clifton Springs, NY. The school has 687 students and is ranked 639 out of 874 districts in New York, with a 1-star rating from SchoolDigger.

While Midlakes performs better than some nearby schools like Clyde-Savannah High School and Waterloo High School, it lags behind higher-performing schools in the region such as Canandaigua Academy and Marcus Whitman High School. Midlakes has seen a decline in its statewide ranking over the past several years, dropping from #269 out of 1,255 NY high schools in 2015-2016 to #598 out of 1,234 in 2024-2025, placing it in the bottom half of high schools statewide.

Midlakes faces several challenges, including high chronic absenteeism rates, declining graduation and increasing dropout rates, and below-average performance on standardized tests. The school spends significantly more per student compared to the state average, but this does not seem to translate into better outcomes. Addressing these issues, such as the achievement gaps between student subgroups, will be crucial for improving student success at Midlakes Middle/High School.

Open Quote School is awful. No follow through, teachers for the most part do whatever the heck they feel. Weak administration. School pacifies kids and passes them through. Liberal agendas being pushed everywhere. Pathetic weak school. Rules change ALL THE TIME. Large share of teachers don't grade assignments for WEEKS, sometimes days before end of marking period, and absolutely no communication. Close Quote
