Summary

Huffaker Elementary is a PK–5 school in Reno, Nevada, serving 377 students in the Washoe County School District, which ranks 4th of 12 in Nevada. After earning 4 stars and ranking between the 70th and 77th percentiles from 2015–16 through 2023–24, Huffaker slipped to the 63rd percentile (3 stars) in 2024–25 and then to the 44th percentile (2 stars, 212th of 376) in 2025–26 — a sharp change from its earlier standing.

The 2025–26 test results are mixed. Math proficiency across all grades was 32.7%, below both the district (37%) and state (36.2%), while reading was 45.6%, slightly above the district (44.4%) and state (45.2%). Science was suppressed by the state, so it is unknown. The one-year math drop is striking: Huffaker's math was 46.5% in 2024–25, above district and state, and reading was 50%. Early grades are the weak spot — 3rd-grade math was 30.4% versus 47% district-wide, and 3rd-grade reading 32.6% versus 43.4%. Fifth-grade reading, by contrast, was a bright spot at 63.4%, well above district and state.
