The Lyon school district in Nevada consists of 19 schools, including 8 elementary schools, 5 middle schools, 5 high schools, and 1 alternative school. The district faces significant challenges, with low academic performance, high poverty levels, and concerning attendance issues across many of its schools.

A few schools stand out in the district. East Valley Elementary School and Fernley Elementary School have the highest proficiency rates in math and reading compared to other schools in the district and the state. Meanwhile, Yerington High School is a relative standout, ranking in the top half of Nevada high schools. The alternative Smith Valley Schools also has the highest proficiency rates across all grades.
