Summary

Normandy Park School is a public elementary school serving grades K-5 in Morristown, New Jersey, part of the Morris School District. With 361 students, Normandy Park consistently outperforms the district and state in standardized test scores, particularly in mathematics and science.

The school's academic performance is impressive, with 65.7% of 3rd graders proficient or better in ELA, compared to 52.5% for the district and 44.9% for the state. In math, the school's performance is even stronger, with 70.1% of 3rd graders, 58.8% of 4th graders, and 65.4% of 5th graders scoring proficient or better. Normandy Park also excels in science, with 48.1% of 5th graders scoring proficient or better, significantly higher than the district and state averages.

The school's strong academic performance may be attributed to its low student-teacher ratio, ranging from 9.7 to 10.3 over the past three years, and its higher per-student spending of $12,130 in 2018-2019 compared to nearby schools like Thomas Jefferson ($11,406) and Sussex Avenue ($11,169). However, the school may need to focus on addressing the needs of its more diverse student population to ensure equitable outcomes for all students.

Open Quote Our daughter is in her second year at NPS (currently a younger in a 2-3 classroom). I am consistently impressed with the quality of school leadership and the educator team. Our daughter benefits from attentive teachers, high standards, the mixed age dynamic, and all of the other wonderful resources within the school and larger NPS community (e.g., artists in residence programs, service projects, HSA programs, etc.) I'm particularly impressed with how the NPS staff promote and maintain a positive and compassionate school culture. If ever a concern arises, parents are assured that it will be addressed in the most thoughtful and appropriate manner. Close Quote
