Bud Carlson Academy is a small public high school in Rochester, NH, serving 96 students in grades 9–12 as part of the Rochester School District. Located just 0.21 miles from Spaulding High School, it has a very different size and educational setting from the district’s large comprehensive high school. About 40% of students qualify for free or reduced-price lunch, and the reported student-teacher ratio was 19.2 in 2024–2025.

Even so, the consistent pattern points to important areas for families and school leaders to examine, including attendance, credit completion, dropout prevention, mathematics support, staffing changes, and how the program differs from nearby Spaulding High School.
