Ross A. Lurgio Middle School consistently ranks among the top middle schools in New Hampshire, with a statewide ranking between 4th and 10th place over the past several years. The school's students perform exceptionally well on the New Hampshire SAS assessments, with proficiency rates significantly higher than the state averages in mathematics, reading, and science. When compared to nearby middle schools, such as those in the Manchester School District, Ross A. Lurgio Middle School stands out as a high-performing outlier. The school's consistent high performance, with a 5-star rating from SchoolDigger, suggests it is providing a high-quality education to its students. However, the low percentage of students eligible for free or reduced-price lunch indicates the school serves a relatively affluent student population, which may contribute to its strong academic performance.

Open Quote Lurgio does an excellent job of encouraging the students to assume responsibility for their own education. My daughter is a gifted student and has the opportunity to take high school level foreign language (Mandarin) and math (Algebra/Geometry) classes for high school credit. She also participates in the extra-curricular Writer's Group that suits her ability and interest. Teachers are accessible and seem to truly care about the students. Sports programs are nuturing. Music offerings are substantial. The facility is new and inviting. Best decision we ever made was to build a home in Bedford 20 years ago! Close Quote
