Although that district ranks in the lower third of North Carolina districts, Lewisville is a standout: it currently ranks 56th of 778 middle schools statewide, placing it in the 93rd percentile, and it has remained in the top quarter of North Carolina middle schools for five straight years. In contrast, nearby same-district schools such as Flat Rock Middle, Northwest Middle, and Mineral Springs Middle rank in the 3rd to 8th percentile statewide.

Academically, Lewisville outpaces both its district and the state on every EOG exam, typically by 17–29 points over the state and 25–39 points over the district. Special education students improved from the 71st to the 93rd percentile in one year. The one caution is attendance: chronic absenteeism rose from 18.5% to 23.0%, although the district rate is 33.6%. One footnote for parents who look at demographic data: the reported free/reduced-price lunch rate shows about 99% for 2024-2025, but that appears to be a district-wide reporting glitch, since it was about 33% in each of the two prior years and is similarly inflated at nearly every school in the district.
