Additionally, Charlotte Secondary's four-year graduation rate has been declining, from 87.7% in 2024-2025 to 74.3% in 2023-2024, which is lower than the state average. The school also ranks in the bottom quartile of North Carolina high schools for female, male, African American, Hispanic, and low socioeconomic status students.

When compared to nearby schools in the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools district, Charlotte Secondary significantly underperforms. Open Quote This school is awesome! I started when I was in 6th grade and I now I'm enamored by this place! My teachers are so supportive, and I love that we are allowed to move at higher paced rates in the classes in which we excel! I do have to do a lot of work, but it is worth it. When you compare my research skills and writing ability to those of my older sister (who followed traditional CMS schools), it's unfathomable! Close Quote
