Provine High School is a public high school in Jackson, Mississippi, serving 791 students in grades 9–12 as part of the Jackson Public Schools district, and it currently ranks last in the state (224th out of 224) with a zero-star rating for the 2025-2026 school year. The school serves an extremely high-poverty area, with 100% of students qualifying for free or reduced-price lunch, and it has one of the lowest student-teacher ratios in the area at 10.6 students per teacher—yet this resource advantage has not translated into strong academic outcomes.

Provine's four-year graduation rate fell to 74.9% in 2024-25, the lowest among all nearby high schools and well below the district average of 83.7% and state average of 89.2%. On a positive note, U.S. History is Provine's relative strength at 33.3% proficiency, and the low student-teacher ratio suggests smaller class sizes. However, addressing chronic absenteeism and the sharp recent decline in graduation rates will be essential if Provine is to reverse its current trajectory.
