Open Quote I love the motto on the back of my teacher ID: “Every decision. What is best for children? Every time.” And I believe the success of this school district is because as teachers, administrators, counselors, etc., we all keep that in mind. Gulfport High School students can achieve high academic performance as well as have plenty of activities in the performing arts, technology, medical field, athletics, and many more programs that will suit the students’ needs regardless of their financial and family situation. I have been teaching in the strings program at Gulfport School District for the past eight years and I have seen the students grow from 4th grade all the way to their senior year in high school and seen them improve in their playing to the point of even wanting to major in music and audition for orchestra scholarships that can range between $2,500 and $8,000 per year. There are very few string programs in the State of Mississippi and we would not have one in Gulfport if we did not have a great combination of responsible students, committed parents, and dedicated administrators. I hope you consider Gulfport High School, you will not be disappointed. Close Quote

Open Quote Gulfport High School is the best high school in Mississippi! The teachers, administrators, and coaches really go above and beyond in working with the students of Gulfport. Thier level of concern for the education and well being of the student is top notch. I have two students who attend GHS and they have so many opportunities in the area of sports, arts, music, and clubs that they would not have at most schools in MS. At the same time they are receiving a strong academic education that will fully prepare them for college. The Common Core Curriculum has stepped up the learning rigor at GHS which will improve their success not just in college but in the real world. Their academy model also has made learning more relevant to my students' interest. My children love coming home and telling me about their day and how much they learn. To hear their level of excitment about learning and how they are pushed to higher standards is truly amazing. I could not be more proud of the direction GHS is going and taking my children. Thank you Gulfport High School. Go Admirals!! Close Quote

Open Quote In 2011, the Mississippi Department of Education selected the Gulfport School District as one of three school districts to participate in a pilot program called Excellence for All. As part of this program, selected school districts were given the opportunity to develop innovative programs for their students that would prepare them to compete on a national and global setting in the core subjects as well as improve students' career and college readiness. Due to a major shift from Mississippi Curriculum Standards to Common Core State Standards, the data on this site does not reflect this shift. Please see the Gulfport School District's website to see actual testing information for the Gulfport School District. (You may also sign up to follow us on Twitter.)

A highly functional school district, the District's selection as a pilot program represents the progressive and passionate commitment to be internationally competitive as the community and district work to meet the mission of the Gulfport School District.

The mission of the Gulfport School District is to inspire each student to become a problem solver, lifelong learner, and productive member of society. Close Quote
