Summary

Biloxi High School is a large public high school in Biloxi, Mississippi, serving 1,669 students in grades 9–12 as part of the Biloxi Public School District, a strong district ranked 17th out of 134 in the state with a 4-star rating. The school has demonstrated it can compete with the best schools on the Gulf Coast, rebounding from a 47th-place state ranking in 2024–2025 to 17th in 2025–2026. However, this type of swing is typical for Biloxi — it moved from 8th in 2020–2021 to 32nd the following year, and from 12th to 30th in earlier years. By contrast, Long Beach High School has remained stable in the top 10, and Ocean Springs High School has consistently ranked in the top 13 over the same period.

Academically, Biloxi's math and science performance is a genuine strength. In 2025–2026, Algebra I proficiency reached 88.9% — higher than Ocean Springs and close to Long Beach and D'Iberville High — while Biology proficiency hit 80.9%, essentially matching its top-performing neighbors. The clear weak spot is English II, where only 60.4% of students scored proficient, the lowest among all nearby schools and nearly 14 points behind Ocean Springs. This literacy gap has persisted for several years and represents the most obvious opportunity for meaningful improvement.

Biloxi's 91.4% graduation rate exceeds the state average and beats several local schools, though it trails Long Beach (95.7%), St. Martin High School (95.0%), and Ocean Springs (93.1%). Chronic absenteeism stands at 25.5% — notably better than higher-ranked peers like Ocean Springs (36.7%) and Long Beach (28.3%). About 54% of students qualify for free/reduced lunch, a moderate level for the region. In sum, Biloxi High School is a solid, above-average school with clear STEM strengths and a persistent English deficit. Whether it can close that literacy gap and deliver more consistent year-over-year results will determine if it can join the reliable top-10 tier occupied by its Gulf Coast neighbors.

Open Quote Biloxi High is a great school, and is well ahead of the region in which it is placed. We moved here with a daughter entering 10th grade who had just left a top North Carolina school. We were nervous. All of our apprehensions have been relieved. The faculty, staff, facilities, and student body have all proven wonderful. Certainly with God's help the transition was easier than we were hoping, and our daughter continues to excel. We checked out every school, public and private, within driving distance and chose Biloxi. We pay tuition to have her there and it's worth every dollar.

The other review is strangely misguided. Close Quote

Open Quote THIS SCHOOL DISTRICT IS NARROW MINDED AND BEHIND THE TIMES. THE SCHOOL BOARD ACTS LIKE BULLIES AND DOESNT APPEAR TO LISTEN TO PARENTS. IF YOU COME FROM A BLOCK SCHEDULE SCHOOL DONT GO TO THIS ONE OR YOU WILL LOSE CREDITS. THE OTHER LOCAL HIGH SCHOOLS ARE MORE CLUED IN TO WHAT STUDENTS/PARENTS WOULD LIKE OUT OF THEIR SCHOOLS. AVOID IT IF AT ALL POSSIBLE. Close Quote
