Open Quote I love Crestview! I have a son there and we couldn't be happier with the staff and leadership. We are part of a pilot program that is trying out year-round school and we just finished our first summer. It went great; the kids liked it, we liked it and it shows in how prepared the kids are when the rest of the district began the new school year. There's no fall-off, no catching up and the kids are happier. The teachers believe in the program and are eager to see it prosper.
Mr. Wallace is an example of how a principal is supposed to be. He's dedicated, creative, optimistic and forward thinking. He's a constant presence in and around the school, he personally makes home visits, knows every kid by name and is always supportive and encouraging.
The Crestview boundaries include areas where dozens of different nationalities make their homes. I'm not exactly positive but there are approximately 30 different nationalities and languages at Crestview. So there's lots of color, culture, traditions and history in each and every class. I am certain that this is what it will take to make our country succeed in the future, an understanding and acceptance of all races, creeds and colors.
There are all income levels from low to high and there is a definite lack of empty materialism among the kids, there's not really that tedious, "Jimmy has this and I want it or everyone else has blah blah and I don't" My son is getting a priceless lesson in not needing to have every toy, every gadget or every brand to be happy.
Naturally there are negatives but they are mainly due to tight budgets, tight schedules and unmet goals. Just like every school, but Crestview does a lot with a little and we are very satisfied. Close Quote
