Summary

Briarcliff Elementary is a public elementary school in Kansas City, Missouri, serving 318 students in grades K-5. It is part of the North Kansas City 74 school district, which is ranked 104 out of 367 districts in the state.

Briarcliff Elementary generally performs better than the state average in both Math and English Language Arts (ELA) across grades 3-5. However, the school's performance lags behind the North Kansas City 74 district average in most subject areas and grade levels. The school's performance for Hispanic and low socioeconomic status (SES) students is particularly concerning, with these subgroups ranking in the bottom quartile of Missouri elementary schools in recent years. Briarcliff Elementary has also experienced relatively high chronic absenteeism rates, ranging from 18.3% to 27.2% over the past few years, which is higher than the state average.

Compared to nearby schools, Briarcliff Elementary's performance is generally stronger than some, such as Crestview Elementary and Winnwood Elementary, but lags behind others, like Oakwood Manor Elementary and Meadowbrook Elementary. The significant underperformance of Hispanic and low-SES students at Briarcliff Elementary suggests the need for targeted interventions and support to address these achievement gaps.

Open Quote Teachers are not willing to communicate with parents. They refuse to fill out physician requested forms concerning behavior for ADHD medication. They claim that 20 days advance notice and receipt of the form is not adequate time to fill it out. It takes approximately 10 minutes to complete the form. The new principal will not help. If this was not enough, the children are bullied on the bus and there is nothing the principal will do. Their backpacks are grabbed and searched by other students. They are tripped. They are pushed so they fall down the bus steps. They are "patted down" by other students. The principal met with the bullies and they said they accidentally patted them down and took their book bags and she believed it.

We had hoped with the change in administration this year would be different from the previous two. We were wrong.

If you child has any learning challenges THIS IS NOT THE SCHOOL FOR YOU!!!

Unfortunately, I was unable to give "0" stars.
