Summary

Expo For Excellence Elementary School is a public elementary school in Saint Paul, Minnesota, serving 417 students in grades PK-5. The school faces challenges in academic performance, particularly in Math and Reading, compared to nearby schools and the state and district averages.

Expo For Excellence Elementary School has consistently ranked in the middle to lower range of Minnesota elementary schools, with proficiency rates on the MCA-III assessments ranging from 35% to 52% in recent years, below the state and district averages. However, the school's performance on the MCA-III Science assessment has been stronger, with proficiency rates around 50% in recent years, outperforming the district and state averages. Nearby schools like Randolph Heights Elementary, Horace Mann School, and Groveland Park Elementary demonstrate stronger academic performance, with proficiency rates in the 60-75% range.

The school's diverse student population and higher percentage of students from low socioeconomic backgrounds may contribute to these performance gaps. The school's performance varies significantly across different student subgroups, with White students consistently outperforming African American and Hispanic students on the MCA-III assessments. Targeted interventions and support for underperforming student subgroups could be an area of focus for the school to improve overall academic outcomes. Expo For Excellence Elementary School is part of the Saint Paul Public Schools district, which is ranked 345 out of 446 districts in Minnesota and has a 1-star rating from SchoolDigger.

Open Quote My daughter is in 1st grade at Expo and we've been very happy with the school. The teachers and principal are great, and the parent and familial involvement is outstanding. It is a very warm & caring community. My only caveat is my concern in the direction the SPPS administration may be heading in the future. It seems that lately they are emphasizing a more top down approach, taking some autonomy & decision making away from individual schools. Hopefully this is not the case, and Expo can continue to set itself apart. Expo is a terrific school and a great urban option with caring teachers and wonderful opportunities - academically & socially. Close Quote

Open Quote Very solid program and caring staff. Larger enrollment means more resources, but my child does not get lost in the shuffle. Great administration. Close Quote
